The event will be held from September 29-October 1st, 2023 at Michelle Ferraros’ Dance USA, located at 25 Gibbs Road in Coram, NY (Long Island). This series features 30+ total hours of training from Jade Whitmire, Jeremy Arnold, Sean Kaminski, and special collaboration guest, Nick Dinicolangelo!
Jade currently teaches in Houston, Tx and travels around Texas sharing her love of tap, as well as nationally with The Streetz Dance Convention. Sean resides in Los Angeles, travelling the country teaching for Adrenaline Dance Convention and at various tap festivals. Jeremy Arnold recently relocated to New York, and currently tours the country educating about tap dance and music with Revive Dance Convention. Nick Dinicolangelo runs a New Jersey based tap company, and is looking forward to teaching some rep to the Tap Series dancers. Each instructor is extremely passionate about passing on high caliber tap training to the next generation of tap dancers, to maintain the integrity of the art form they love so much and to share their love and joy of making music with today’s youth. This workshop is open to tap dancers ages 8+, with three levels of training offered, and 10+ hours of class per level. There will also be a combined level tap jam and Hands Down repertory class, a solo/duo/trio showcase with live feedback, as well as an informal Hands Down showcase on Saturday evening. A JAM packed weekend of tap dance!
The event will kick off with the solo/duo/trio showcase on Friday afternoon/early evening, followed by the Hands Down Tap Company repertory class. Jade, Jeremy, Sean, and Nick will offer live feedback to each dancer following their informal solo/duo/trio performance, and parents are allowed to be in the room filming the performance, as well as the feedback! Dancers are invited to perform previous seasons’ solos, if current season solos aren’t complete, for more personal feed back and less “solo choreography” specific. Dancers are also invited to showcase dances that are not completed yet, for some early raw feedback that is choreography specific, as well as dancer specific.
Tap Series Classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday, from the morning to early evening (estimated 9:30-4:00). Any overflow solo/duo showcase dancers, or those who wish to perform on Saturday, will be scheduled on Saturday evening, directly following classes. Saturday evening will conclude with an in-studio performance from the Hands Down Tap Company, as well as a few select dancers we may pick from the solo / duo / trio showcase! The final schedule and times will be sent out the week before the event. We are only accepting 20 tap dances for the live feedback panel, on a first come, first serve basis. We will also be awarding a few scholarships to The Streetz, Adrenaline, Revive, Tap Series events, and Rhythmic Souls Tap Company to any stand out dancers throughout the event!
*Dancers may register more than one dance for the showcase, but only one may be a solo. To participate in the performance showcase, dancers must be registered for the full weekend workshop.
If you want to register your solo for the Solo Showcase, the fee is $75. Please email the studio by Sat. 9/16.
If you want to register a Duo/Trio it is $40 per dancer. Please email the studio by Sat. 9/16.
